Are you a new resident of Amsterdam looking for a home church, or are you visiting and looking for a place to pray? Then you are most welcome at the Methodist Church – Methodist Church Netherlands (MKN). Together with the Municipality of Amsterdam, we form the Holland Circuit of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and America (MCCA). The MCCA has been active in church service in the Netherlands for 35 years.
We are a small, close-knit community of believers that meets for worship in the Baptist Church at Het Breed 2 in Amsterdam-Noord. The Sunday service starts every Sunday at 2:30 PM and you are most welcome to join the Municipality of Amsterdam for a worship service, a gathering or a Christian service.
The Sunday service is Word-oriented and includes the proclamation of the gospel; but we also share in a rich community, embracing people as equal children of God. We celebrate New Life in Jesus Christ and emphasize our role in home, church, and community as stewards of God’s grace. Worship is primarily in English, with the children’s service in Dutch. However, once a quarter, on the fifth Sunday, there is a Dutch-language worship service, led by the choir.
Children’s Sunday School takes place during worship, but is also online. Children who do not regularly attend church are most welcome.
Adult Bible Study takes place online on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. On the first and third Tuesdays of the month, study is in Dutch, while on the second and fourth Tuesdays there is English class.
There is a pastoral team led by the minister, a lay worker and a team of pastoral leaders [class leaders]. Should you wish to share spiritual concerns or seek guidance, the minister, Rev. Dr. Joan Delsol Meade, or the lay worker, Brother Alfred Glasgow, will be pleased to receive you.
